AEW and ROH Trish Adora Opens Up About Battling Imposter Syndrome

AEW and ROH star Trish Adora opened up about her wrestling journey and personal struggles on the podcast “AEW Unrestricted.” For nearly a decade, Adora has made waves in the wrestling scene for her hard work and never-give-up attitude.

Adora’s breakthrough came when she signed with Ring of Honor (ROH) in 2021 after traveling the world as a professional wrestler. However, like many other promotions across industries, ROH was forced to temporarily close their operations due to Covid-19, cutting Adora’s time there short, but she still looks back on it fondly.

“Everything happened at the exact time it needed to happen,” Adora said with gratitude in her voice. “It was offered to me and it was presented to me in a way that I felt like I could shine the brightest.

They had a great women’s section, and they still do, so just to be a part of that or be a woman of honor, it’s pretty cool. It’s like a little chip on my shoulder or a feather in my cap, I should say.”

ROH Dojo Training

While wrestling for ROH, Adora also had the opportunity to train at their acclaimed dojo, which has seen some of the biggest names break through over the years. She was one of the last groups to train there before it closed.

This opportunity couldn’t have come at a better time for her, as she admits she was plagued by self-confidence at this stage. “They gave me my first opportunity at a time when I was kind of having imposter syndrome, I’ll be honest,” a grateful Adora explained.

“They just put me in good positions… They just made sure I was surrounded by good people and I could wrestle with great people, what more could you ask for?” Not only has Adora battled opponents in square circles, but she’s also battled what she calls “imposter syndrome,” a psychological pattern where an individual doubts his or her accomplishments.

Her ability to stay focused and take advantage of opportunities like ROH only proves her mental strength and growth as a professional athlete.
