As the 2024 Tour de France gets underway, RIDE Media is publishing a series of reports and videos about the race, the riders and the bikes that make up this festival of cycling that kicked off last week in Florence, Italy.

In the video below you can learn more about the bike Tadej Pogačar rode during the team presentation of the 111th TDF.

The first Bike Gallery of the 2024 Tour de France shows a limited edition ‘Fleur-de-Lys’ Colnago, like the one Tadej Pogačar rode during the team presentation in Florence on June 27, 2024.

Colnago’s Manolo Bertocchi tells the story of the bike created to commemorate the first TDF Big departure in Italy. The 111th edition of the race will start in Florence, and the celebrated Italian brand has made 111 of these bikes, with Pogačar’s team presentation bike being auctioned by Sotherby’s Global, starting on the second rest day, with open bidding over seven days.

“The Fleur-de-Lys is the symbol of both France and Florence,” says Bertocchi while explaining the color scheme of the bicycle in the video.

“Historically, the Fleur-de-Lys was given as a symbol to the city of Florence by the King of France in the 13th century. If you look at the Medici emblem – with six balls in the top ball – it has the blue of France engraved on it, that’s why the bike is blue.”
