As the Los Angeles Lakers prepare for training camp and the 2024-25 season, LeBron James and his son, Bronny James, are already hard at work.

LeBron posted some of his negative comments about Bronny on his Instagram Stories on Wednesday, telling Bronny that he “defended him great” but that he got beat by “the better O” after the older James drove him for a reverse layup from the baseline.

That’s no surprise, of course: LeBron is one of the best players in NBA history, and his 19-year-old son averaged 4.8 points per game in his lone season at USC. LeBron may be 39 years old, but he’s a mismatch for most of the NBA, let alone a second-round draft pick.

Planning is already underway for when the duo will take the field together in a regular season game.

“We’ve obviously talked about it as a staff and we’ve gone into some specifics about what that might look like,” new head coach JJ Redick told reporters. “But we haven’t committed to anything yet. And obviously there’s a conversation that needs to be had when we’re all together with Bronny and LeBron. They should be a part of that conversation as well.”
