Resistol Rookie Athlete of the Week: Wacey Schalla Slides to Nevada for Silver State Stampede Success

Wacey Schalla takes home the Resistol Rookie All-Around title while placing in the Top 5 in both the bareback and bull riding races. He continued his success when he found a huge payday at the Silver State Stampede to become your Resistol Rookie Athlete of the Week.

In Schalla’s first event of the night, Schalla nodded his head for an eight-second contest with Frontier Rodeo’s Eagles Pass in bareback riding. The score that would move the board was a 74.5, and while it wasn’t the rookie’s highest score, it was good enough for a sixth-place payday.

At the end of the night was Schalla’s second event. In the bull riding, Schalla went head-to-head with another Frontier Rodeo animal athlete, Super Trooper. The 79-point ride was worth the win and $10,000 to the Oklahoma All-Around cowboy.

Schalla still has plenty of rodeos left in his Resistol Rookie year and he’s in contention for Las Vegas in the bull riding, having collected $69,580 to finish in 20th placee in the PRCA World Standings. In bareback riding, Schalla is ranked 39th in the world, but 5th in the Rookie Race.

It’s a big year for all the rookies, but Schalla handles the pressure like a veteran. His win in the bull riding and sixth place in the bareback riding make him your Resistol Rookie Athlete of the Week.
