Schuyler fair gets ready to start

RUSHVILLE – The Schuyler County Fair is ready for its seven-day run starting Friday with some big-name entertainment and improvements to the grounds.

This year’s grandstand concert headliner is Gary Allan, who will play with guest Gavin Adcock on Saturday at 7.30pm. The fair has a history of big acts and has hosted Florida Georgia Line and Morgan Wallen in the past, said Chris Clayton, a member of the fair’s board.

“Getting the Gary Allan concert was a big deal for us. So far there has been a lot of interest in his show,” Clayton said.

Allan made his country music debut with the release of the single “Her Man” on his gold-certified debut album “Used Heart for Sale,” which was released in 1996. Since then, he has achieved numerous albums that have gone platinum or platinum. gold. His 2013 album “Set You Free” reached number one on the Billboard country charts.

Fairgoers can get a great deal by purchasing a season pass for $40 that not only gets you into the fairgrounds, but also a seat at all grandstand events, including the Allan concert, Clayton said. Tickets for the Allan show alone cost $35.

Season passes are available prior to the fair, but can also be purchased at the gate or online via the fair website.

Also booked into the stands are a tractor pull Friday, harness racing Sunday, a monster truck show Tuesday, rodeo July 3 and a demolition derby and fireworks show to conclude on July 4. The Little Miss and Mister Pageant is Monday at 6:30 PM , followed by the Miss Schuyler County Queen Pageant at 8:00 PM

“The stop at the Illinois Tractor Pullers Association track in Rushville is a highlight of their year and brings out some of the best tractors from the Midwest. The cool truck/monster truck show will feature the legendary truck Bigfoot Clayton said. “We’ve had them here several times, but never had the Bigfoot truck here.”

One of the latest gadgets at the fair is the new pig stable that was completed a few weeks ago.

“It cost almost $500,000 and we can fit about 300 pigs in it. In the past we had a building from the 1950s that was in disrepair. This building has a concrete floor and wash areas. It’s a big improvement, Clayton said. .

Although the weather forecast calls for temperatures during the fair to moderate in the mid-80s, Clayton said he wouldn’t be surprised if there was some rain.

“We’re hoping it cools down from what it was, and it always seems like we get a little bit of rain during the fair,” Clayton said. “We think we have one of the best fairs around with a family-friendly atmosphere.”

The fairgrounds are located at 200 E. Scripps St.
